This is one of the really must-sees and a must-do when visiting Tobago:
This tour makes it possible to see beneath the ocean waters changing from the sandy beach into the deep dark. And change again from deep dark into stunning blue with bright colors.
See the Buccoo Reef on board the glass-bottom boat snorkeling along with the reef fish. While passing through the coral gardens you can spot 40 different species of coral including the Staghorn, sea fans, stars, and another Octocoral. Among all the wonderful things to see, the Buccoo Reef is the feeding ground for some of the world’s most beautiful fishes in the sweetest vibrant colors.
The reef is protected, therefore nobody is allowed to walk on the reef or take coral reefs out of the water. But you can use the glass-bottomed boats to view it and enjoy the amazing view while snorkeling. Please follow the instructions of the captain!
Here is something awe-inspiring.
The Nylon Pool is also a plateau in the middle of the ocean just outside the Buccoo Reef. With its sparkling clear water, about chest high on high tides and hip high when it is low tide. The special coral sand makes this a unique experience. Some of the rich and famous, and more so the locals, use the freshly coral debris as a body scrub. Feel your skin after the 100% natural and free scrub: it will be smooth, silky and youthful.
What about pictures?
Perfect for your Instagram and or Facebook! This famous spot is talked about by The Royals of England. Princess Margaret of Great Britain, herself on her honeymoon visit exclaimed, “it’s so crazy blue! It looks like nylon” (The deluxe fabric of that time). Hence the name “nylon pool”.
Mr. Kenneth Potts will link you with one of the best operators to follow the guidelines of the Buccoo Reef Trust.
